Latpanchar is a mesmerizing mirror of natural beauty covered with forests and Cinconha Plantation. It is the highest point in the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary with fabulous views of Teesta River, deep gorges and greenery all around. On the West bank of River Tista about 13 kilometers from Kalijhora is a hidden Himalayan beauty known as Latpanchar. At an altitude of 3400 ft, the place is close to the core area of Mahananda Wild Life Sanctuary. Among the animals found here are the rare mountain goat (serow), tigers, leopards, gaurs, wild boars, different kinds of deer and monkeys, jungle cats, porcupines, civets, monitor lizards and snakes.
The major attraction of Latpanchar is the 360 degree view it offers. From the “Ahal” hill top, one can have a view of Kurseong, Tiger Hill, Sikkim, and Siliguri. You can also see the Tista River, Kalimpong hill area, Algara, Lava, Lolegaon, Bagdogra, Tinchule, Takdah and the plains of Dooars. The best part of visit to Latpanchar is that you can enjoy the beauty of the hill without having to jostle among tourist crowd as the destination is new and it is mostly unknown to tourists.
